And so these are the days of our lives...

Until recently, I had convinced myself that I am getting better with age.  My mind is still pretty sharp.  My body, on the other hand, is in need of some serious therapy.

At 40-something, I have it all...   

  • weight gain
  • failing eye sight
  • fatigue
  • varicose veins
  • achy, breaky everything

But still, I am looking forward to a few more decades of health and happiness.  So at the half way point of 2017, I have come to terms with the fact that I have not really worked that hard on my resolution to be awesome. But I am on it!

For the third summer in a row, I will begin my day with a workout and coffee.  I have been paying a gym for a while now without any visits (since like 2 summers ago).  I have maintained my coffee habit but not the treadmill bit.  Time for me to change up my game.  I will be packing up my bag with a few tools so that I can get in and out of the gym in no time flat. 

Until then (Monday is my day), I'll be trying to prep myself and my family for summer.  What will that include (keep in mind that I have teenagers):

  • breakfast / brunch--they don't get up until after 10am
  • lunch -- they requested salads
  • dinner -- I work late during the summer...  ramen noodles and frozen mac & cheese
  • fruit / yogurt / cheese -- for when they get the munchies
  • bottled water -- well water is clean but smells like river instead of bleach

So as I spy myself through the eyes of my cell phone camera, I am looking forward to being fabulous at forty and awesome just because I can.
